Here's why:
SK Telecom Americas (SKTA) is a U.S. subsidiary of SK Telecom, Korea's largest mobile operator and one of the largest wireless Internet service providers in the world. More About Your Role
This position was created to help support SKTA's HR needs and provide support across the three new divisions. You'll work closely with our Senior Executive team. We'll look to you to position yourself as an HR subject-matter expert in the US market who can help us evaluate our current leadership framework, figure out what type of talent we need for the new ventures, assess our programs and look at the business from an OD perspective to identify the real issues and design solutions.
An area in which you'll invest a good deal of time is training & performance evaluation: how can we leverage our human talent to create performance excellence? This will include establishing competency models and determining how to identify and select talent, reward people, and help people grow professionally.
Culture will also be a key focus as ours is a multicultural environment, and one of your key challenges is to help our Korean expatriates get acclimated to the US way of doing business. We'll look to you to set up formal intercultural training that provides expatriates with much-needed insight into the working styles, communication preferences, etiquette, expectations, etc. of the US culture. You'll help create a cohesive culture based on trust, respect, open communication, clear expectations, solid understanding of tools and processes, and continuous improvement based on feedback. And you'll help define, in words and behaviors, the culture that will best help us realize our business plan. You will also drive cross-functional departmental cohesiveness programs to ensure maximum collaboration.
At a high level, you'll spend about half of your time developing strategy based on your understanding of our business and what we're doing today; and the remaining 50% implementing the strategy across the three divisions and aligning recommended solutions to organizational and business strategies. Specifically, your responsibilities are to:
Keys to Success
To excel in this role you will showcase your emotional intelligence as you interact effectively with a multicultural group of internal and external stakeholders who have diverse expectations and experiences; it is important for employees to feel that their concerns are heard, as well as acted upon. You'll also have the ability to sell new ways of thinking and behaving via influence and persuasion throughout the organization, but especially to the leadership level, as you build consensus across department lines and motivate stakeholders to embrace the changes. In this way, you will act as a catalyst and coach, rather than a power broker.
Other facets of success are to:
If this sounds like the right mix of challenge and opportunity for you, and you meet the minimum qualifications, we want to hear from you!
